Q: How does it work?

A: The Zoom teeth whitening system has been used throughout the country and internationally to lighten discoloration of tooth enamel and dentin.  A whitening gel is applied to the teeth and activated via a special UV light. Your eyes, lips and gums are completely covered and protected throughout the entire process. Zoom Teeth Whitening is considered one of the safest procedures available in Medical Esthetics.  The complete procedure takes about an hour. 

 

Q: What causes yellow teeth?

A: There are numerous types of teeth stains; some are genetic, environmental or pharmacological in nature. The most common are surface stains on the enamel or beneath the enamel within the dentin. Surface stains are caused by foods, beverages and lifestyle behaviors, such as smoking, drinking coffee, and red wine. Over time, these surface stains may penetrate the enamel and change the color of the dentin. The teeth will have a darken overall appearance due to the translucency of the enamel layer. When this occurs, the teeth often appears yellow. The whitening and brightening gel used in the procedure creates a chemical reaction that breaks the carbon bonds that create yellow stains. Q: Is teeth whitening safe for my teeth?

A: As you would with any product you use on your body, be sure to follow the teeth whitening directions carefully. Some whitening products can irritate gums or cause undue sensitivity if used improperly or too often. Our Medical Estheticians are trained with the appropriate protocols and safety measures. The client's mouth is protected from damage or sensitivity during the procedure.

 

Q: How long does the treatment last?

A: Most whitening services are designed to last for a long period of time, however relapse is not uncommon due to personal behaviors that may restain the teeth.
